STD Introduction

Sexually transmitted infections (STI), also referred to as sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and venereal diseases (VD), are infections that are commonly spread by sex, especially vaginal intercourse, anal sex or oral sex. Most STIs initially do not cause symptoms. This results in a greater risk of passing the disease on to others. Symptoms and signs of disease may include vaginal discharge, penile discharge, ulcers on or around the genitals, and pelvic pain. STIs acquired before or during birth may result in poor outcomes for the baby. Some STIs may cause problems with the ability to get pregnant.

A sexually transmitted disease (STD) is an infection that’s spread during sexual contact with another person. This includes touching, since some STDs can be spread from skin-to-skin contact.
In general, STDs are highly preventable. Almost 20 million new STDs are diagnosed each year in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). However, a large number of those infections could be avoided if people made different decisions about their sexual health.

The only guaranteed method to prevent STDs is to abstain from all sexual contact. However, most people don’t find this to be a practical solution. When engaging in sexual activity, there are steps people can take to limit their risk of STDs.

Yogurt To Treat Trichomoniasis

Yogurt is rich in useful bacteria, which is essential for the body to perform a number of functions like digestion and fighting against the disease causing bacteria. This property of yoghurt can be used to treat trichomoniasis, one of the sexually transmitted diseases. This most commonly occurs in women and a regular intake of yoghurt will help in curing it. You can also apply it on the vagina regularly for effective results.

Neem

Neem is the best anti-microbial and anti-bacterial agent, which can be used for both internal as well as external treatments. In case of treating STDs, you can consume neem products such as leaves and flowers, by mixing it with regular diet. In case of rashes or warts which results due to any sexually transmitted disease, you can apply neem oil over it. This will effectively fight against the disease causing germs and helps in improving your immunity as well.

Garlic

Apart from other treatments, you can also try garlic as a supplement, which has anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. You can either consume raw garlic daily or add it with your regular diet. Raw garlic is found to be more effective in fighting against the microbes. You can also apply garlic paste on regions where symptoms of the disease are seen.

Onion

Genital warts are a major concern among males, which is one of the effects as a result of sexually transmitted diseases. This can occur in any parts of the body and become a sign of embarrassment. You can treat this effectively with the help of onion juice. You can apply it on the warts at least twice in a day and see some visible changes. As prevention is always better than cure, hygiene sex practices will help averting the occurrence of STDs. A proper education and awareness is important to protect you from such diseases and to find a cure for it.

Genital warts

Genital warts are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV16). This is the most common sexually transmitted infections. There are more than 40 types of HPV that can infect the genital areas of males and females. These HPV types can also infect the mouth and throat. They can cause serious health problems, including genital warts and certain cancers. There is no certain way to tell who will develop health problems from HPV and who will not. In most cases it goes away by itself before it causes any health problems and most people who become infected do not even know they have it. HPV is not the same as herpes or HIV (the virus that causes AIDS). Both viruses can be passed on during sex, but they have different symptoms and cause different health problems.

Genital warts usually appear as a small bump or group of bumps in the genital area. They can be small or large, raised or flat, or shaped like a cauliflower. They can appear within weeks or months after sexual contact with an infected partner even if the infected partner has no signs of genital warts. If left untreated, they might go away, remain unchanged, or increase in size or number. The types of HPV that can cause genital warts are not the same as the types that cause cancers. Genital warts can be treated successfully with a tincture or paste made of bloodroot or comfrey.

Gonorrhoea

Gonorrhoea is a disease caused by the Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacterium that can infect men and women usually from sexual contact. It affects the urethra, rectum and throat. Gonorrhoea does respond to natural herbal treatments, so you are advised to visit to your health practitioner. Gonorrhoea is highly contagious and can cause several serious complications if not treated properly. It can cause serious scarring of the ovarian tubes which can render a woman infertile. Gonorrhoea is caused by the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoea. Anyone who has any type of sex can catch gonorrhoea. The infection can be spread by contact with the mouth, vagina, penis or anus. The bacteria grow in warm, moist areas of the body, including the tube that carries urine out of the body (urethra). In women, the bacteria may be found in the reproductive tract (which includes the fallopian tubes, uterus, and cervix). The bacteria can even grow in the eyes.

Symptoms in men:

  • Burning and pain while urinating
  • Increased urinary frequency or urgency
  • Discharge from the penis (white, yellow, or green in colour)
  • Red or swollen opening of penis (urethra)
  • Tender or swollen testicles
  • Sore throat (gonococcal pharyngitis)

Symptoms in women:

  • Can be very mild or nonspecific, and may be mistaken for another type of infection. They include:
  • Vaginal discharge
  • Burning and pain while urinating
  • Increased urination
  • Sore throat
  • Painful sexual intercourse
  • Severe pain in lower abdomen (if the infection spreads to the fallopian tubes and stomach area)
  • Fever (if the infection spreads to the fallopian tubes and stomach area)
  • If the infection spreads to the bloodstream, fever, rash, and arthritis-like symptoms may occur
