Common Things Like Hiccup and Ringing in Your Ears May Be a Signal of These Health Problems

Our bodies tend to surprise us with unusual and sometimes embarrassing sounds. You’re your bowels brought you in a situation when you don’t know where to turn when they start making unexpected noises?
But even though such sounds are not pleasant, they are actually useful because they warn us that something might be wrong in our bodies. You should be worried if they continue appearing constantly. If you experience ringing in your ears, hiccups, or whistling in the nose, it is wise to see your doctor.
Let’s look for these warning signs separately.
Ringing in the Ears
Ringing in the ears is harmless if you experience it after being exposed to loud music, like after a concert, or if you are exposed to other loud sounds, for instance, at your workplace. But when they appear with no particular reason and on a regular basis, they might indicate tinnitus.
Tinnitus is not a disease but a symptom of some kind of a fault in the hearing system, like infection or a damage in the ear. Ears receive the sounds and send them to the brain. In a case of a damage, they keep sending the sounds even if the source is not present. Tinnitus is very common in older people. When combined with pains or dizziness, the ringing sounds might signalize some kind of neurological problem, so make sure you see the doctor immediately.
Cracking Joints
Cracking the joints. i.e. pulling the bones apart, releases air bubbles trapped inside them and, despite the popular belief, it does not cause arthritis.
But if you hear this cracking sound without a reason, for example, upon sudden movements, then you should be worried. This might indicate that the amount of fluid that acts as a lubricant in the joints has decreased. If at the same time, you feel numbness, pains, or you find it difficult to move, it might me a sign of a torn ligament or another injury. If the cracking sound is persistent, it might indicate osteoarthritis.
Whistling Sound in the Nose
Whistling sounds from the nose mean obstruction of some kind. These obstructions are usually caused by allergies that result in swelling of the membrane. It might be just regular mucus in question and this is solved with nasal sprays. But if it does not stop after some time, it could signalize a rupture in the connective tissue or another type of injury caused by a trauma. Make sure you see your doctor check if you need surgery.
Hiccups
Hiccups are common and usually harmless. However, they are really annoying and very difficult to stop no matter what you do. Have you tried tricks like holding your breath or drinking a lot of water? They almost never help.
Hiccups are contractions of the diaphragm that appear involuntarily when there is some sort of interruption in the breathing process. Such interruptions can be caused by strong feelings, heavy meals, or some types of medications.
The reason we are instructed to hold our breath is because carbon dioxide has a relaxing effect on the diaphragm. You should start worrying if the hiccups last longer than 48 hours. This might suggest nerve irritation. If accompanied with breathing difficulties and pains they can be a warning of a stroke.
