Eyes are the essential organ of our body. Without eye no one can see the world. Proper care of eyes should be done. Nowadays people suffer from too many eye problems, skin problems etc. due to increase in pollution. Conjunctivitis is most common eye problem which is also known as Pink Eye. In this condition, inflammation of conjunctiva is there. Conjunctiva is thin transparent layer around the eye ball which protects the inner layer (white portion) of eye ball. It may affect one or both the eyes. It is common viral infection which can be managed with the help of natural herbs like Haridra, Neemand Ashwagandha. There are many herbal drugs made from these herbs which are useful in management of eye problems such as Aller- G care capsules, vara churna (eye wash).

Conjunctivitis eyes or pink eyes are caused by inflammation of the conjunctiva of the eye. It is very painful condition with symptoms like redness, tearing, inflammation and swelling and itching in the eyes.

Pink eyes problem can be caused by bacterial, viral and other allergic infection. If someone suffering from pink eyes, then you should avoid to touch yourself from him; it can be a viral infection. So care about it every time and also wash your hands before eat or drink water.


Home Remedies For Pink Eyes or Conjunctivitis Eyes

1. Triphala Water

Triphala is the best natural ingredient that helps to treat from viral infection and swelling or irritating eyes. Triphala works as a natural antibacterial and antifungal agent that reduce swelling and itching.
Soak a teaspoon triphala powder into half glass of water before going to sleep.
Next morning, filter it properly and wash your eyes with this filtered water.
Repeat this method twice in a day; you will get rid from redness and infection problems with this remedy.

2. Alum and Rose-Water

Alum is also known as a phitkari; A white transparent solid crystal that used for cleaning the water. Alum is an excellent anti-fungal and antibacterial agent that works for curing pink eyes.

Mix four grain (approx 0.26 grams) of alum powder into 30 grams of rose-water. Mix well to make a lotion. You can keep this mixture into a glass bottle.

Drop 2 drops in both the eyes with the help of dropper. Repeat this treatment 3 to 4 times every day to get completely rid from infected eyes. This is the best remedy for pain and infection of the eyes.

Alternative Treatment - You can use distilled water or boiled water instead of rose-water.

3. Honey and Boiled Water

Honey has antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties that helps to treat from the pink eyes as well as redness in eyes. So, try this given method to get rid from it.

Mix 1/2 teaspoon of raw honey in 1/4 cup of lukewarm water (use boiled water when it becomes lukewarm). Mix well and drop 2 drops in both the eyes. Repeat this treatment thrice every day.

4 . Salt-Water

Salt water is an effective treatment for bacterial and fungal infections or allergies. Salt water is works to eliminate the symptoms of pink eyes.

Mix a teaspoon salt in a glass of water and bring to boil; thereafter leave it to become cool. Use a dropper to rinse your affected eyes with this salt water. Repeat this treatment 3 to 4 times in a day to get rid from infected eyes.

5. Cold or Warm Compress

Step by step compress of hot and cold is effective to treating with conjunctivitis eyes. You can try these compress method to get relief from infections.

Cold Compress - Soak a clean cloth into water or take some ice cubes into a plastic bag and wrap it into the cotton cloth. Apply it to closed eyes for five minutes. It is very useful to get rid from allergic conjunctivitis.

Hot Compress – Soak a clean cotton cloth into warm water and apply it to closed eyes. This method is effective to treat from inflammation, swelling and irritation. And it is also effective in viral or bacterial conjunctivitis.


6.Lime Juice

Install few drops of lime juice in your affected eyes or drink a glass of lemon juice early in the morning, preferably before breakfast.

This will help to cure conjunctivitis and reduce the infection too.


7.Cucumber

Take a raw cucumber and cut it into slices. Place one thin slice of cucumber over the eyelids.

You know that cucumber is quite soothing. Placing cucumber will provide a soothing effect on the eyes.
You can also use raw potato slice in place of cucumber.


8.Honey

Take some honey, like a drop or two and put it in the inflamed and affected eye.

This will provide immediate relief from the pain and infection.


9.Spinach & Carrot

To keep your eyes healthy and avoid the disease, extract juices of spinach and carrot and mix them in equal quantities.

Drink this juice daily. It will be very useful for your eyes.


10.Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is also very helpful in reducing the swelling and itching of the eyes.

Put a few drops of coconut oil in your eyes and lie down for some time.
After you get up, you will experience less watery and itchy eyes.

11.Eyebright

Eyebright is a herb which is very useful in times of conjunctivitis. This serves as another useful remedy for this disease.

Prepare a decoction of this herb with water and drink the liquid three times a day.
This works as a very effective remedy for pink eye or conjunctivitis.

Diet And Lifestyle Advice During Conjunctivitis:

During the disease, there are many factors that you should keep in mind to prevent and avoid the spread of the disease. Faulty lifestyle and unhealthy environment are some causes of the disease.
Slight guidance on the diet and your lifestyle and following some advice will help you cure the disease.
Changes in the diet are imperative. In this conjunctivitis, you should include or increase the intake of food items which are rich in Vitamin A and B2 like green leafy veggies, carrots, mangoes, dairy products, papayas, tomato, pumpkin, almonds, bananas and citrus fruits.
Excess starch and sugary products should be completely avoided like white bread, refined cereals, potatoes, puddings, pies, pastry, sugar, jams and confectionery.
Eating meat and other protein and fatty foods, strong tea, and coffee, excess salt, and sauces should all be avoided.
When you suffer from the disease, avoid rubbing your eyes. Rubbing will not reduce the irritation and pain but only increase your infection and worsen the condition.
