Aloe vera gel in its raw form does improve the quality of hair, but there no studies that we know of to suggest that it stimulates or promotes hair growth. It is believed to help indirectly though, as aloe may work to reduce hair fall by strengthening hair strands and providing relief from a variety of scalp and hair conditions that cause hair fall.
Natural Anti-inflammatory
“Research shows that aloe can treat inflammatory scalp conditions like seborrheic dermatitis & dandruff, reducing hair loss”
Aloe vera gel can provide significant relive from a variety of inflammatory scalp conditions like seborrheic dermatitis, which cause intense itching and flaking of skin that increases hair loss. A study published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment found that aloe can help reduce inflammatory response and dandruff, most likely because of its high fatty acid and antioxidant content.
Deep Cleanser
“Saponins in aloe can help cleanse the hair, without causing any damage”
Aloe vera gel may be a great skin moisturizer, but it also works fantastically to cleanse hair follicles, getting rid of extra sebum, which would otherwise cause residue buildup. What’s great about aloe is that unlike other products it does not cause hair damage while cleansing. In fact, your hair will appear shinier and softer after using aloe gel. This benefit is attributed to the presence of saponins that have cleansing and antiseptic properties.
Hair Strengthening
“Aloe contains nutrients like vitamins A, C, & E, all of which are essential for cell growth”
Aloe vera gel is most widely used for skin care because of its collagen and antioxidant content, which helps treat minor rashes and sunburn. These properties also make it effective at nourishing your scalp, as aloe contains nutrients like vitamins A, C, and E, all of which are essential for cell growth. In addition, folic acid and vitamin B 12 in aloe also help strengthen hair, lowering the risk of hair fall.
Improves Circulation
Whether aloe vera itself or the action of massaging aloe gel into the scalp improves blood circulation, the practice will yield this benefit, helping strengthen and possibly promote hair growth. Of course, this benefit can also be enjoyed with any scalp massage, using natural oils
